What oil type 2 use
I have a used 2004 Mit Montero Sport and I am not sure what oil to put into it. The manual mentions synthetic but my wife took it to a dealer today and they used just plain old Chev 10-30. I asked if it had synthetic when it was shipped new and the guy told me no and he doesn't recommend synthetic unless you are a peddle to the metal type driver anyway.
I don't want to hurt my baby. Any insight would be appreciated.

RE: What oil type 2 use
Chevron Supreme 10W30 is a very good oil. However, I would not go more than 4000 miles with that oil. If you want to go the full 7500 miles use synthetic. The mechanics advice is screwy. Good synthetic oils include; Mobil 1 EP, Redline, Amsoil, Royal Purple. Some other so-called synthetic oils, Castrol, Penzoil, Valvoline, etc are not "true" synthetic oils.
The differences between synthetic and dino include; how long you can go between oil changes, cold flow properties, overall engine cleanliness. The "pedal to the metal kind-of guy" has nothing to do with it.
