window repair? Replace?
Hello to all...... I am a proud owner of a 2004 Mitsubishi Montero Limited , picked her up off the showroom floor @ Whittier Mitsubishi , My drivers side window is making a scraping noise as it goes up or down, it will get stuck around 1/2 ways down. I have searched for any info about this issue but did not come back with any results, I would love to take care of myself if I can, just not too familiar with the way the actuator works... any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...
You can try to remove door trim and to lubricate the window lifting mechanism. It will make things move easier. Check to make sure that all the bolts holding the window lift mechanism are tight and not missing. Missing bolts will cause misalignment and can lead to window sticking. If none of those things resolve the issue, you may need to repair or replace the window lift motor.
Thanks for your response... I oiled the rail and it seemed solid.... After looking into it , it seems the wire may be broken or is going to break very soon.... Can it be replaced by itself? Or is it sold as a unit? I'll do some more research .... But I've been coming up with nothing. I may have to bite the bullet and take it in. Thanks again Bro.
I doubt you can replace a specific part of the mechanism. Its probably a single unit. I have no idea how much that will cost. You can try to salvage one from a wrecking yard if you can find a similar model. Probably 2001-2006 years for full size Montero should work.
