Finished up the Chrome trim pieces for the bumper. I initially went RED on them but decided it was TOO much. I opt'd to just grey out the chrome instead.
I might look into some water transfer grafix, and see if they can do a grey carbonfiber.
You can also see the difference in the painted grill. Painting the chrome gloss Black to match the rest of the grill shell paid off IMO. Also matched the rear section between the tail lights in the same grey.

I didn't use a wrap on the chrome. (yet)
The grey is a plastidip spray I got at Advance auto. It's a dupli color brand.
If I can't get a decent red wrap to match the color of the strips on the side, I'll try and find a paint that matches, and then cover it with clear bra.

Got the fab work done today. feeder on the welder was drag'n a bit so my pool would studder. In the end, it all came out OK, and it's ready to paint. (unless I find a good deal on getting it power coated locally) Center bar is 1&1/2" X 1" 8th" stock. After some measuring I ended up cutting through the bar with a cut off wheel, then bending it together and rewelding it. Some grinder work made it look all better. Since the stock was pretty thick, I also beveled into the cut so the welds would penetrate and be nice and solid. This bar is super solid....

So,,,,, this bar is AWESOME!!!!!!!! Holy Cow what a difference.
I can't believe how much body flex the outlander had over the OS. and my previous OS also ran the Ultra Racing strut bar. I modeled this bar after that one (beefier tho) and this thing has really stiffened up the body. It's much more stable over bumps and more in control when cornering. Best I've personally done for it's handling aside from the performance tires. On to the pics.

I'm thinking of seeing if I can have it reproduced. I had about $20 in the steel, $50+ for the powder coating and about 4 hours of fabricating, measuring, drilling, cutting, welding and grinding. I'm sure I'll be adding one to the wifes 14 model so hers handles as well as mine.
More bars may in the works tho.

I got the windows' tinted the other day. Not the greatest pics (dammm winter weather) Got a nice banner portion on the front windshield, didn't go to dark on the fronts but it's better than the plain glass.
Since Mitsubishi doesn't give you anything but a cheesy manila envelope for the manual, I got an idea to find one. So today I went looking for something to put the owners manual in. I was going to check for something at a local yard, but ended up finding a used Cambridge day planner at a GoodWill (thrift store) that's a few blocks from our house. This works "perfect" and only cost $2. There were 2 allen screws that held the page binder inside it, I took out the binder portion and Ta Da. nice leather case for all the car "stuff", ins. card, registration, etc. to fit it all nice and neat.
One of the things I like about the Outlander, is the lil shelf in the glove box. The planner fits nice and snug and it's better than most of the ones you get with higher end cars.

Just picked up a weekly organizer planner at Walmart $9 and tata....

Nice job. I'm sure it was worth the 9 bucks. I was just glad to try it out on some thrift store piece, but not every place has one around.
