2016 Outlander-Trailer Hitch
I will be finalizing my purchase of a 2016 Outlander and was quoted $710 to install the trailer hitch at the dealer, which I think is outrageous. the dealer claims that there is cutting involved.
Anyone have a hitch? What was your experience and how does it look? Pictures welcomed!

Welcome!!!!!! Glad to have a New Outlander on the Forum I just got my new 2015 Outlander SE Aug 9th . No I don't have the Hitch. Wish i did. Have you ck a place that sells hitch and see what they would charge to install your hitch? Do you have any pictures of your Outlander?

Hi CP, I have done some hitch research, i just would love to hear from members that have the factory hitch vs dealer installed factory option vs after market.
I would really like to see what the hitch is supposed to look like from the factory.

Thank you yeah the only one I saw this Dealer had the outlander in the show room with a lot of extra on it and they had the hitch on it. It was nice looking. But these are add on,s put on by the dealer. Or they came on it when it was delivered. Like mine came with a roof rack. Hope you see and hear from others.

I have also wanted to investigate an after market hitch for my 2016 outlander. On the etrailer website they say that a Curt trailer hitch would work (model C13163).Also theymention a possible seperate wiring kit as well.Does anyone know if this would work well with our 2016's?

Yes, reviving an older thread. kmpiotrowski (or anyone else), do you have pics? Referring to an earlier question on this thread, some of us want to know the difference between OEM and aftermarket. For the same reasons, OEM is an outrageous cost, but if it is significantly better than aftermarket, it's worth considering. Any pics from anyone? OEM? Curt?

I did an install thread on the Curt hitch on another forum.
Curt hitch is beefy and it bolts up pretty easy. I put one on the wifes 14 Outlander, but it's the same for the 16.
I had to call Curt Hitches and discuss some clearance issues on the muffler side. They sent me another end plate and longer carriage bolts. They've fixed the issue. There's nothing wrong with the hitch I've got either, I just had to use an end plate on each side of the frame on the muffler side. I've seen the dealer hitch and it is tucked up a bit more but I'm not sure it's as stout as the Curt unit.

Interesting. Hard to tell from that pic but it looks like the 14-16 version of the curt hitch does not stick out from the back as much as the pre-14 version. Might be that the hitch itself is significantly redesigned beyond just the new round metal, or the car body is. So many posts on hitches from the pre-14 Outlanders. Almost think they should make subforums by generation. So little info on 14-16. As far as oem, I am gathering that it is actually up into the bumper through a cut out. But no pics from anyone so cannot confirm. Also, if anyone who does have an oem on a 14-16 hitch replies, does the harness actually have to be run up to the battery like the Curt and Tow-ready? Or is it truly plug n play with the connections to the rear of the vehicle?
