How much faster are we talking? My 2008 had an issue where the odometer was no longer working (stuck at ~160,000km), and the speedometer read about 28% too high. When using an OBD II scan tool and torque to look at the speed sensor, the speed senor was working correctly. Also, the tripodometer was working correctly.

I replaced the entire instrument cluster, and the problem is fixed. I did find what looked like a tiny bit of coca-cola residue on the bottom of the instrument cluster (I bought the vehicle used). I believe that some coca-cola splashed from the cup holder onto the instrument cluster and burnt a bit of the instrument cluster out.

If you're talking about it showing too fast by about 3%->5%, that is normal. Pretty much all car manufacturers do that so we can't blame them if we get speeding tickets.

The other thing to check is that your wheel size is stock.

My first thought would be wheel circumference too, if that changed without being recalibrated, that'd do it. Otherwise I'd agree it could be the cluster. Mine wasn't consistently reading wrong values, just losing track of everything from time to time and then going back to normal until it just died. I was not about to get into any tampering situation because I don't want that killing an insurance claim or something down the road so I was totally thrilled that these guys: https://www.instrumentclusterstore.c...t_clusters.htm were able to get my old dead cluster cloned for me and keep me legit without having to rely on the dealership.
