Default AWD Mode

I can't find a description of how to safely engage any of the AWD modes. For instance, is there a safe speed to switch from one mode to another? Do you have to be driving in a straight line?

I'm used to 4WD vehicles and even had a few AWD vehicles, but the they all had operating instructions.

Thanx

With the Outlander you can switch to any mode at any time.

The only thing I have seen was from an Austrailian manual (I think..)which said to restrict switching modes if you are travelling at greater than 100km/hr.

Its a electronically controlled 4wd system that can be changed at any speed, any time, in any condition.

In manual wrote: "don't select 4WD mode from 2WD when front wheels are spinning more faster then rear".
It may be in hard/slushy conditions.
In this case you can damage rear coupling !

If the conditions are slipery, I usually lift my foot off the gas before switching, because of the warning, that Sergy brought up. keep in mind that the system is smart enough to switch mode on it's onw, if the mode you have selected can cause overheating or damage.

That's good stuff there. This is one smart car. Now if i could just get it to make the paymentstoo then i'd be set.

Back in high school I had a 1987 Subaru 5-door that was full-time 4wd with adiff lock switch and hi/lo lever that made it tons offun in the snow, but you had to be careful not to burn up the diff. This system seems to be completely hands off which should make it just as muchfun but with less worry.

If you pull the left paddle twice, followed by the right one three time, it will make a car payment!

chenarm,
If only, bro [8D]. At least for me the fuel savings should make the payment easier to stomach. I had a Titan before this and it would burn a gallon of gas just turning over the ignition.

MY old shogun sport use to do 25mpg and had to fill up every 260 miles I now full up every 390 miles and it does 41mpg and when diesel cost £1.06 every single litre it matters.

I can go further and put less in its saving me £20 every time I fill up at the pump
