Hello, yes I finally solved it after wasting a lot of money and time to buy new rotors, new callipers etc...please buy a pair of new brake pads with the hardware... Hardware is the metal clips between which the pads move back and forth... Use a good synthetic grease at the point where the ends of the brake pads touch the clips... You should be good to go.
Hello
This is just an update of what I have experienced, hopefully it may help somebody.
I have not changed my rear right (problematic) caliper yet. However since the 10 years service was up, I ended up going to a friend of a friend mechanic, and he used some sort of after market coated rotors and ceramic pads that he said are good, and lo and behold, there is MUCH less rust and I have not had to service breaks since 2022, only check them to make sure they are still ok during regular oil changes. I think I may need to service the brakes this oil change or next one at the latest. The Caliper issue is still there, however since there is a lot less rust, it is not completely stuck and seized every couple of months. Another thing he had done was taking the calipers out and clear out the rust, and even painted some parts of the calipers surface with rust paint. Maybe that did something. Dealer would never do that.
My thinking s that the OEM rotors are horrible quality and rust too fast in winter, and they are just not durable. I have to get hold that mechanic, and figure out what rotors and pads he had installed... That has saved me so much headaches.
Since last year, I got rid of the old iron rims for winter tires and got painted alloy rims that are supposed to be ok for winter conditions, and I have been washing them clean and covering them in WD40 before storing them away in summer.
I don't know what works, but I don't like new cars, and I am planning to keep this car for as long as possible since everything in it still working fine...
On another update, the service at the dealers have gone really south. All the dealer cannot do proper service, everything is rushed, and they do things such as trying to convince me to "de-carbonize" and "steam clean" the engine (I'm not a mechanic, but sounds really stupid even to me), they declared that I must change a VPC valve to prevent the engine from blowing up, and all kinds of stupid things, and I have lost all trust and faith in them... I will never buy a car from them and I will never service any vehicles there either. Oh, and to do the 100K service (change breaks, spark plugs and timing belt) was going to cost over $7000... they had not yet got to the fluids yet, and were walking me over to the sales desk to sell me a Nissan Rough with a mitsu badge instead...
Anyways, please do not trust the dealer blindly, I cannot find an honest person in there who could give me proper answers... That has been my experience with this... love the car, hate their dealers...
