Default Brake pad sensors

Lack of more like. So a new gx 4 has sensors to let you know if you have low tyre pressure, but more importantly brake pad sensors nope. What a pile of poo. I now have to buy 2 new disks as one of them has score marks . How can mitsubishi be so stupid. No brakes but it's ok at least it tells you if your tyre pressure is low. Oh and to round it off, the pads have a scrape plate fitted so you have an audio alert. Wrong, the set I had (remember this is a 15 plate so it's original pads) didn't have scrape plates. Disgusted to say the least.

So for 2 years, you or a mechanic have never inspected the brakes??? were grooves caused by complete wear/failure of the pad or lack of grease on the caliper slide pins?

I purchased the car 14 months ago. It had a service 11 months ago by mitsubishi. It was a complete wear of the pads. Apart from an allegro and a maestro all my cars have had break pad sensors so they only get a physical check once a year. The car has done 22150 miles I do row a caravan so that puts extra wear on the pads I admit. My whole gripe is this. It has sensors for a lot of things but an important safety feature such as brake pads should be more important than low tyre pressure, something I check regular anyway due to towing. Who really would take the wheels off and check pads nowadays? Obviously I will have to now.

if that thing is going through pads that fast, something is wrong. I normally get about 60-70k miles out of a set of ceramic brake pads. I'm at 200k miles and just now replacing the front rotors....going to still rock the rear rotors. I'd try getting a premium set of pads that will hold up better than daily driver grade of pads.

a great time to check pads/rotors is when you rotate tires or during annual inspection; either one should have caught it early. That said my Mazda had a frozen rear slider pin issue (common problem I was not away of bc new to Forzdas) and caused the inner pad (piston side) to drag against the rotor. It ate away all of the brake compound and was down to bare metal and like you not a single squeal to indicate something was off. All original OEM ATE brake parts.
