Default CVT fluid change procedure 2018 Outlander Sport 2.4 SEL AWD

Couldn't find a youtube on this, I'll be approaching 30K in a few months.
The CVT in this model is different than the earlier models JATCO CVT8
I see a procedure posted for the 2014-2016 model but that is for a different CVT

Your car is equipped with the JF016E JATCO CVT while the earlier 2.0L engines were mated with the JF011E version. You may read a bit more about the CVTs in this thread if interested.
Your CVT is not much different than the others in the Mitsubishi lineup when it comes to maintenance, so you may follow the posted protocols for fluid change. I found the most comprehensive one ( a 50 min video) that can be seen here at post #9

Thanks! I struggled through the youtube, youtube suggested another that was a bit better.

Parts needed:

5 Qt MZ320185 (4.2 needed) J4 Fluid I see no alternative this is a special fluid.
1 2824A006 Filter (the one under the battery) mine is mounted with the coolant hoses facing the grill not as shown in the video
1 2920A096 O ring (for the above)
1 2705A049 Pan gasket
1 2705A013 Drain plug washer

Round numbers $150.00 for parts

There is a filter screen in the pan with an O ring (2824A007) but that can be cleaned and reinstalled.

Kinda surprised that this much is done at 30K miles of normal driving, would think a drain and fill might be all that's needed till around 75-100K
Going to ask the dealer what they do for the 30K service.

Edit:
Dealer states they do not change the filter in the cooler they say its not necessary.
They drop the pan, clean the screen and do a power flush and fill for $299.00

OK called another dealer and they stated that they do a flush no filters and have to reset the TCM for $250.00

So what's with the TCM reset any experience with this? If that's correct a DIY drain and fill with or without filters is not the way to go here.

I read through the 2011 Outlander Sport Service Manual regarding Essential Service of the CVT

They show a drain and fill only.
It calls for a TCM parameter to be reset.

"11. TCM records the deterioration level of the transmission fluid. After replacing the transmission fluid with new one, use M.U.T.-III to reset the deterioration level recorded in TCM"

Is there a coder reader like the ELM327 that can read and reset the deterioration level?

OK it looks like I have found the answer.

I have no idea what the TCM does with the degradation number other than collect it.
I believe it triggers a count based on temperature.
Does it cause the TCM to change how the CVT operates or just warn you that the fluid is bad and needs to be replaced?

ELM327 CVT app

I lent my ELM 327 out will see if its compatible when I get it back.

Did you have to reset the TCM after the drain and fill? I was told you didnt need to. About to do a drain and fill myself and have an Elm327. Trying to prepare for the job as much as I can.

You dont have to, but if you can its a good idea. it doesnt affect anything , it is just a counter. Its a handy thing to have for diagnosis. If the count is high you can tell if its oil quality is a concern

Can you post the video you found? Would it be the same as a 2019 4 Cylinder?
