CVT fluid change
Hi everyone, nice forum .. this is my first post!
I bought a 2010 outlander 2.4L at 70,000km, took it to Mitsubishi dealer for QA check and everything was fine!
Today (1 year after) the car reached 89,000km, my dealer noticed the color of the cvt fluid is darker than it should and just mentioned it was suppose to be changed at 80,000km! so, i said well we should fix that by changing asap, right?
but, he asked if the fluid was changed at 40,000km? which i wouldn't know and i've lost contact with the previous owner!
Dealer said there is a big risk of complete gearbox damage when changing the fluid now in case it wasn't changed at 40,000km? I asked what options do i have and he said nothing?
I am not sure if my dealer knows what's he is doing anymore? and the problem is, he is the official Mitsubishi dealer!
Any advice?

I dont think it would harm the transmission to do the fluid change now. The dealers will always want you to do more maintenance than is absolutely necessary, they always want us to follow the "severe" service intervals. I've had 5 Mitsubishi vehicles over the last 13 years...always did the transmission fluid every 60,000 km...with no problems..I drive around 40k per year..so it's every 18 months or so for me.
I would take it to another dealer if you are not comfortable with this one. At 89K its time do it anyway.Perhaps some other members would have more input on this. Good luck...and let us know how it worked out.
