I have a 07 XLS with every option ( just purchased used for my daughter) and i cant seem to get the headlamps and the fog lamps BOTH on at the same time. In the owners manual it shows a differernt light stalk than the one i have. Am i missing something here? please help..
The DRL's are in the location that the FOG LIGHT would be in if you had the fog light option. If you don't have the stalk with the FACTORY fog light selection on it then you don't have factory fog lights. With a little work you can convert the DRL setup into a fog light setup that you will able to turn on with your HID's and or BRIGHTS on.

Has anyone tried to make the factory fog lights DRLs instead of the regular headlights?

Do you mean?:
Has anyone made/changed their DRL lights into FOG LIGHTS???

Do you really want daytime running lights in place of your FOG LIGHTS?

No, what I really mean is that I want to retain the full functionality of my fog lights when the head lights are on, but when they are off, I'd like the fog lights to run during the day instead of the low-beam head lamps at 90% power.

You can try removing the DRL relay in the fuse panel under the hood. That should disable the DRL. Now you can check if your fog lights work. That should work.

Do you want or run just the fog lights without the head light on.......I am not sure. Right now will your fog lights work if just your parking lights are on???

this would be the case if you have the OEM HIDs and the fogs are the DRLs.... what I did is buy the OEM fog light kit (includes the light stalk, relay, harness and lights) and replaced the drl lights with it.... now when I turn on the headlights I could turn on the fog lights and when the headlights are off the fog lights acts as the drl's

That is another way of doing that. The reason I didn't do it the way you did bino was because running the FOGLIGHTS all the time puts out a lot of heat and the design of the fog light are not to run all the time. Plus changing the bulb is a pain in the a&& for me. I like to have the control of completely turning them on and off.

The way I changed my DRL into fog lights around $40 and a little elbow grease. Looks the same, a little bit more functionality, and is much much more inexpensive.

I do NOT have factory HIDs. Therefore, my DRLs are currently the low beam headlights. The fog lights do not work with just the parking lights on. I wanted to change my DRLs from the low beam to the fog lights, without losing the regular functionality of the fog lights.

Is there an OEM kit to get the lower DRLs in the fog light position like on cars with HIDs? Or how is are the cars with HIDs wired?
