I was able to trace where the wire goes after it comes out of the MMCS, I will have pictures up soon, but after it comes out of the MMCS, all the wires trace over to the left side connector {the three connectors which are attached to the adapter that holds the MMCS, right before it goes into the next harness}, after the wires reach there, they terminate, I used a multimeter to find the correct routing of wires, I will have the exact pins that they land at soon.

Hi Outie08!

Just caught up with this thread again - and found the USD 25 camera on eBay! Needless to say, it's already in the mail :-)

As a precaution against the curtain issue, I'm going for floor-installing the cable.
In that regard, could you give me clues as to how and where exactly you led the cable? There seem to be a lot of covers back there, curious as to which to remove/pry away and where to put the cable...
Also, I'd appreciate info on how people have gotten power from the backing lights. I'd like to make as few alterations to the system as possible (bar the drilling of a hole in th wing, of course) and I'm interested in how this has been solved.

Love this thread, eagerly awaiting more info! :-)

Cheers,

-Morten

The 2009 Outlander to be sold in the US will now have the rear view camera as an option.

here's the wiring diagram....can someone verify whether connector D38 exists on an earlier model?
Ifone connector is on the back of the MMCS then the other end may be there too. Located in the
upper right rear corner.

there is now a wiring harness p/n 8512a120 available for $57 and the camera p/n 8781a017 for $475.
in case anyone is interested.

Hi mitsupartsman,

Do you have a description of connectors D08/D09?
Are they connected to backing sensor? If so, I know where to look for D38...

Cheers,

Its not there in 07. It will be located where the jack is stored on the back right. BTW D-8 is harness for airbag, D-9 is righthand tail light.

I'm ready to install the rear camera, but still have two questions:

1) How to route the cable from the wing down to the floor and to the front? Can someone share their wire-routingmethod in details? Is it better to route the wire on the passenger side or the driver side?

2) How to tap the power and groundto the back up light? Do you intercept the back up light wires at the light assembly? Please shares some details.

Thanks for your help.

I'm thinking of doing this project myself.

I'm a bit confused on how to remove the rear hatch panel.

How do I remove it??

Thank you for any assistance.
