First, thanks for the links.

I wanted replace the file loading.kwi (v60.05) of this map with other loading.kwi version (50.11 with motion allowed). I tried update mms with this way but didn't work.

I did next steps:

1º Extract 4 rar archives into a folder
2º Replace loading.kwi for other loading.kwi version (50.11)
3º burn it to a DL-RW Disc.
4º Insert disc into mms but nothing happens.

My questions:

I have to copy the map directly to HDD?
I can update from Disc?
could anyone replace loading.kwi file of this map with another version file?
or in the best case... Otaku could patch this loading.kwi (60.05).

Ok im sorry for this post but I have honestly read through this a couple times and I cant quite figure it out 100% so I want to be clear about what I am doing. below are my goals for myself. Sorry if i have missed the answers in my reading. i am familiar with electronics and linux so i welcome tutorials and love to tinker with things.

Specs: 2007 outlander xls US Spec 261UM
Location: Germany

Hopes:
O/S: upgrade to latest and greatest.(Do i keep my O/S as american or switch to european .kwi; this i havnt been able to figure out from the forum)
Maps: European as up to date as possible (most important hope)
Music: Transfer to HDD without having to RIP
Radio: freq spacing to european standards(is this software or hardware governed on this unit)
-Traffic(will this equip pull data from radio?)
DVD: be able to let my daughter watch it while we drive(DVD in motion; this i see seems a quick fix, but i wont mess with it till the big stuff is sorted)

YES but only UM (american application - loading.kwi) thaey are 50 or 60 version but only 30.99 is cracked with DVD in Motion

YES (manually replace on HDD only - don't forget to leave both voice.me files - it's american english)

Is there a technical reason that the cracks beyond 30.99 havnt happened or just a lack of people in the 261UM community having an interest?

 

Mr OTAKU knows how to but unfortunatly we don't have any news from him more than year and half

 

Is there really that much difference between the two Firmwares? Sorry Im just trying to catch up on the inside info!

 

Mr. Otaku did not share any of his info for creating this patch, and now has gone MIA, and does not even respond to emails or comments on his own website.

we will have to completly re-engineer this. im working on getting a kwi extractor to work, should have it ready to go in a couple weeks, then it will be game on.

 

also, thought i would mention i tried building a update for the USA version with new maps and stuff similar to how the EM version works. unfortunatly the map update info is stored differently on the UM (usa) model. also upgrading the navi and then manually dongrading the kwi files does not work in a usable way iether.

this will happen, just taking time.

(i started working on this because i wanted the new maps, i live in the stix and the old maps from 06 were terrible. my goal is to have dvd in motoin AND new maps, but also have the info available so if i disapear, it doesnt have to be reverse engineered yet again.)
