Follow up question: Would doing that void the warranty?

Under US federal law a manufacturer can not automatically void your warranty just because you installed aftermarket parts, or made a modification to your vehicle. I believe its called the Magnusson/Moss law.

According to the law they first have to prove that the part or modification caused damage to the vehicle before they can void the warranty. Of course if they say it damaged your vehicle, you are then in the position of trying to prove it did not, and lets be honest, the manufacturer and the dealer have a lot more money to fight you, than you have.
