Whoa...

Isn't 65 W a bit to much for our reg halogens? I think you will need a wriing Harness for those bulbs...

Default any difference on 2010 Outlander?

Hi there - very good info guys, was just wondering if I need to do anything different on 2010 Outlander before HID installation.

Looked at the harness kits Alim was talking about but that it seems that this specific harness only goes up to 2009 model. So there must be something different in 2010 model, wish I knew what .

I am not sure what gauge wire is running from the light relay to the light socket on the Outlander.
If the wire gauge isn't heavy enough it will melt the insulation on the wire if you use a higher watt bulb.
I believe armymen referring to a harness means using heavier gauge wiring harness OR just heavier gauge wiring.

yes its kind of confusing
imho, HIDs do provide more light. Once you have 'crystal white' on, just compare with HIDs on other cars and you will see the difference. Also, consider bulbs lifetime - it used to be really bad and before I switched to HIDs I had to replace 'crystal white' twice a year...

nice comparison in details - HIDs do provide more light per watt:

I jus bought a HID kid and harness and installed it, with a solder capacitor.
Everything work great. However, when I first turn on the light, the driver side light flickers for maybe 1-2 secs. Is this a problem, or will the flicker go away after some time of using it. It doesn't flicker after you turn it off and on. It only flickers when you first turn on. Once is warm up, no problem. And on the first turn on of the light, it takes 5 sec for the HID to produce full intensity. Is this a normal thing too?

Quote me if im wrong on this one, but I experienced this on my friends Golf. Same issue until he up sized the cap.

The flickering you are getting will destroy your ballast. If it is a digital one, it might not harm it, but it might once in a while go in to safe mode (shut off, and restart). I believe the flickering in YOUR case is caused by a wrong sized capacitor. It might not be big enough. When HIDs first turn on, they draw a huge amount of power to warm up the bulbs. (place your ears close to the ballast, you will hear it humming for 2-5 seconds, until the bulbs are 100% warmed up...this is normal with after market kits) This power draw; if the capacitor is too small, will result in flickering.

Do you have the part number of the hid kit you used in your low beam conversion on the Mitz. Outlander. If not could you let me know where you aquired it from. I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
