Default How to: install remote start in 2003-2006 outlander

i just finished installing my avital 4113 remote start in my 2003 outlander today so i figured id make a write up.. its really easy.. i am a mechanic so i am familliar with cars but even for a newbie it is VERY easy.. MY CAR HAS NO IMMOBILIZER OR ALARM.. IF YOUR CAR IS EQUIPPED WITH AN IMMOBILIZER OR ALARM THIS WILL NOT BE THE DIRECT GUIDE..

Tools:
avital 4113 remote start (i chose this because of the simple 1 button remote)
phillips screw driver
flat head screw driver
10mm socket or wrench
wire cutters/strippers
electrical tape or heat shrink..
razor blade
soldering is not needed.. recommended.. but not an absolute necessity

Lets Start.
1 look under your steering wheel you will see 3 holes with screws in them.. take your phillips head and take the 3 screws out.. the 2 halves will come apart like a sandwich.. if you have trouble gently pry with the flat head (go to step two before you try and yank out the steering wheel surround)

2. on the panel near your knees you will see 2 screws.. one near the hood latch release and one on the far right.. take these out and pull up this panel will unclip and hang loose.. remove the steering wheel surround.. once these are removed you will see the fuse box and a 10mm bolt on the lower right.. remove that bolt and the knee panel will hang down a bit more and give you a ton more room

4. remove the door sill plastic trim.. just grab it and yank up.. it will unclip

5. after the door sill is out remove the kick panel the door sill was covering

6. now that these are removed you will have access to the ignition switch on the left of the steering wheel, fuse box and you will also see two 10mm bolts with ground wires on them behind the kick panel you just removed near the floor..

7. see that phillips head screw on the ignition switch.. take that out and unclip the harness from the switch

8. above the brake pedal you will see a 4 wire clip.. unclip it and let it hang..

9. loosen the two 10mm grounds

now that everything is ready to be connected grab the remote start and get the 6 pin connector with the heavy gauge wire.. use your razor blade and cut some of the insulation off each wire.. make sure to remove enough so that you can wrap the wire from the remote start harness around the ignition harness

1. two red wires from the remote start go to the blue/white wire
2. Purple from remote start goes to Black/Yellow
3. Orange goes to Blue/Yellow
4. Pink goes to Blue/Black
5. Pink/White goes to Blue/Red

wrap them with tape and your done with that.. your 90 percent done..

go to the 5 pin harness on the remote start.. you will be using 3 wires.. Brake shut down, neutral saftey, and hood close button,

1.brake shut down goes to the blue/orange wire on that clip we unplugged earlier above the brake switch

2.ground the neutral saftey switch wire to one of the ground bolts near the door sill

3.ground the hood close button wire to the other ground wire (WE ARENT USING THE BUTTON. JUST GROUNDING THE WIRE SO THE UNIT IGNORES IT)

final step.. get the main harness from the remote start..

black ground wire goes to one of the ground bolts near the sill

white wire goes to the green/white wire near the fuse box.. this is to flash the parking lights

button it all up and your done.. diagrams can be found here !
if the wire wasnt mentioned in this write up ignore it.. half the wires that go with the kit arent used..
