iPod/iPhone & USB Patch for Link System
Any one that has the "Link System" that comes on most 2011 Lancer's and RVR's (Outlander Sport), all Outlander's and has wondered why the USB function doesn't work with your iPhone 3GS/4 or iPod Touch here is why.
If you are running IOS 4.0 or newer the Link System needs a patch to make it work. The company that makes it is JCI and they have a patch available. The problem is that it is a customer pay up grade. I don't know what it costs but if you have an effected iPhone or iPod the $40 or so should be worth it. I am going to wait until the new ISO 5 comes out before paying for the up grade.
I'm not sure if American cars have the problem too but I know Link System has been used since 2010 there.

That doesn't tell me why. It just tells me that there is a patch for it. When I talked to JCI about this issue, they said that there was no way they could implement a patch into the system, and that I was basically SOL. How do I go about acquiring this patch?

I would suggest you call your local Mitsubishi dealer and speak the the service manager. Tell him/her you read on the forum that there is a patch available. If that person claims not to have heard of it call Mitsubishi Customer Service. I work at a Mitsu dealer and I can tell you the squeaky wheel does get the grease.
