Default Just a couple Outlander questions...

Hello all --

Several questions for the knowledgeable -- First -- how difficult is it to change the serp belt on an 03 Outlander? FYI: 2003 Outlander w/ 36K.

Second -- I've turned a wrench more than once -- and want to change out the transmission fluid. I know the best way to do this is to flush the system, but I don't have a flush machine, so want to just drop the pan and change the filter with the fluid. Before I crawl under the car, how difficult to access and pull the pan?

Lastly, I've been looking for some kind of manual like a Chiltons or Haynes -- I can't find anything. Any ideas?

Greg

I have an 06 SE with the 4G69 engine. On mine you CANNOT drop the pan. They dont even make a gasket for it. IF you were to open it up you would void your powertrain warranty. Im not sure on yours. I think it is the same. It costs about 180 to flush. I did it myslef though b/c I have access to a machine. You MUST use the mitsu fluid. It is special, and they like it for warranty purposes.

As far as the serp belt, it isnt hard especially for a FWD car. But again it may be different on your engine.

Your better off spending the extra whatever to have the dealer do it, that way they cant worm out of the warranty saying that so and so didnt use Mitsu fluid. Its not much more maybe $25 at the most over a good tranny place.
