Default Just ordered Goodyear Assurance CS Tripletreds

Hey all....

I needed a new set of tires for my 09 v6 outlander. I was debating getting the fortera tripletred last year, but lots of people said you took a pretty good hit on gas mileage and that they wore out pretty quick.

Apparently, goodyear just released the Assurance CS tripletred for SUV/CUV. These are less aggresive than the forteras but more aggressive than the car version and they claim that they took care of the problems associated with the foretras..Hopefully.

Anyone hear anything else about these? I am in NS Canada and it will take a few weeks to get here since they have to ship out of the states. No one has reviews on these things yet so here's hoping they work out!

If anyone has info, please share it

Cheers,
Dave

Well, just had the new tires put on and had them on for the weekend. These replaced my worn out factory Yokohama geolander G033 (H rated) 215/70/16

Initial impressions:

1. MUCH softer. Now this is probably due from comparing worn out H rated to brand new T rated tires. The max pressure for these tires is 51. I have tried them at 35 (what I ran the old yokos (their max pressure was 44) and now have them to 40..... 40 is preferable)

2. Fairly quiet for the tread.

3. Balanced easily. nice to see.

4. No real vibration. Pretty smooth.

So far, they are just different than what I had expected. Some people said going form a H to a T rated tire wouldn't be noticeable (some asid it would be). At least with these tires, I find there is a difference.

I have 30 days and if I don't like them I can return them but have to buy another goodyear. The only ones would be the assurance fuel max.....

The funny thing is, I think I prefer the geolanders. At least the handling aspect. like I said, the tires have a max of 51 PSI, and they are at 40 right now, and STILL feel like marshmallows in turns.

Is there anything I can do to make them stiffer? I am afraid if I put more air in, the middle of the tire will wear quicker. I did the chalk test and I am finding that it seems the chalk wears away in the middle slightly faster than the edges at 40 psi...

I can take them back, but then I either chosse dunlop cs signature (or something like that) or the goodyear assurance fuel max (which I hear is soft as well)....

I have no doubt these will rock in rain, but on the highway, I am pretty leery of any quick maneuvers....

ugh
