Default Keys?

When we purchased the car, we only got one key. I know the manual says we need a second key in order to code any further keys ourselves but is there any way around it at all that isn't going to cost me $300 for a new key at the dealer?

I did read somewhere that someone once used a Walmart to get another key cut and coded but I'm not 100% certain if they needed to code the key once more to the vehicle.

Thanks!

I've also seen that Ace key cutting can sometimes cut and program car keys but again, not sure if you'll need to use the original two keys to add the other in. So any help on this one would be greatly appreciated!
