Hi all

i really like the outlander as i need a AWD

i'm looking for a used one, 08-09-10, price range is around 17-18K

there is any known problem with those years model?
Any expensive maintenance due at a certain mileage?

Do you have any suggestions???

Hey Panda, 07-09 years are for the most part the same vehicle...a few trim lines popped up that reflect a smaller engine with CVT transmission. In '10, they played with the engine to get a little more power and enhanced the suspension/steering some on some trim levels.

In '09, I picked up an '07 with 30k miles on it for $16.5k...then I got a trade-in of $4k...so it was 12.5k out the door.

Aside from your normal oil change...tranny fluid change every 45k miles...brake fluid every 2-3 years...power steering once every 4-5 years...there isn't much maintenance. (oh, and differential & transfercase fluid change...about 60k-70k miles).

I'm at 80k miles and have little to no rust. I expect in a year or two to change out the ball joints, which I think will be expensive as the ball joint and part of the suspention is one piece...each side is $220 from discount OEM suppliers.

If you purchase used, your warranty is 5yr/60k mile...so if you can find a low milage 09...I'd go for it. 2nd Generation Outlanders are pretty stout vehicles.
