Default Mitsubishi outlander oil level too high

Hi all,

My oil level is way too high, warning light is on. About a month after I bought it I had same prob and garage changed oil filter and said the sensor wasn't working. They blamed me for doing short runs and advised I give it a 20 min run doing over 50 every 2 weeks. So now it has happened again. Wondered if it sounds familiar to anybody a d if it was a common problem.
Thanks

What engine do you have, mine has exactly the same problem. If it's a diesel with DPF or FAP (particle filter) the oil level will rise especially when a regeneration is not finished properly. How high is your oil level on the dipstick ? Mine is about 1 - 1.5 cm over max but it's not close to X which also leads me to believe it's a sensor problem.

Hi

Yes it is diesel and dpf system. It's way over and has happened before. I am getting the oil changed again tomorrow and I hoping the sensor will work so that the warning light goes off. I have 2 options, sell it or go for long journeys every couple of weeks! 😐

Let me know if the light goes off, and more important if it needs to be reset by the service shop, as I got a feeling that this error will not go away if the service interval is also not reset also. I'm also planing to change the oil on mine soon but i don't think I'll do it at my preferred dealer as it's about 500 km away from me ! Also regarding the oil increase, this is not only done by city driving but also when the regeneration is interrupted and this processes sadly is not shown anywhere, you need to look for signs like 900 rpm idle, high instant fuel consumption, a different sound from the engine, etc.

Just returned from the dealer service, ~1liter of extra oil, DPF almost clogged, needed beside an oil change a forced regeneration and a calibration of the following: oil level, injectors, diesel pump.
