ORIGINAL: soundcolor

I agree... if mitsu does it, then its on them, Me, I am going by expererience, and what the book says, thats why I am going the 5-30 route. not that there is anything wrong with either, just thats what I am doing. I dont really care for 10-30, think its too thick, but I also think 5-20 is too thin. (this from the guy that runs 0-20 mobile1 in his highly built Si) i know I know, but hey, if its good enough to last through 320k miles on my bro-in-laws chevy, then 5-30 is fine for my mitsu. (guess what I am saying is that if it didnt cause any harm, and helped him make it that long in a chevy, and you know it was the oil, cause no chevy ever runs that long without help from god, then it should be fine here.)
Holy crap... 320,000 on a Chevy and still going? Hey, he needs to call Chevy and say he's beaten the 250,000 mile marker and they might want to later buy the car for bargging (like they do with Mercedes, Audi, Sabb, etc). You know, how they advertise these cars that run for a ton of miles.... He might even get a brand new car from the manufacturer, who likes to show off car quality.

A friend of mine did 430,000 miles on an old Chevy truck, but he put a lot of work into it. When he got the car, it had a bit over 100,000 miles on it and he changed a bunch of stuff, strating with the belts, the oil pump (which he says enabled him to go the 400k miles), water pump and I think he even replaced all the gaskets and stuff.

Goes to show you, if you really want to run a car for a ton of miles, you can... although I say screw it and get a new car. It's chaper, easier, and you don't have to worry about be going to a job interview and the car breaking down.
