Hi all
My vehicle is a '87 Outlander with the Rockford Fosgate audio pack. Unfortunately the amp has failed (apparently moisture has got in) and can't be repaired by our local techs. The new replacement is too many $$$$ right now. Has anyone on the forum bypassed the amp and connected the speakers directly to the head unit? I doubt the sub woofer can be connected this way but maybe there's a pre amp in the head unit that can power the six speakers. Any suggestions gratefully considered.

check what your head deck is rated for. Usually in the order of 4x25w.
Your speakers are likely 100w+ each.
Yes you CAN drive them, but i wouldnt.

 

To get a replacement amp might cost a little much, but I'd suggest contacting United Radio out of Syracuse, NY to get that existing amp fixed. They can be reached at 800-448-0944 and their website is United Radio - Automotive Electronics - Quality Electronics Service Since 1923 . They have repaired other Mitsubishi Electronics/Rockford Fosgate amplifiers before in the past with pretty good results.

 

That's a good suggestion, though my location being Brunei in South East Asia might make shipping a bit scary. I'll run an inquiry by them. The quoted "new" price from the dealer is $1300. P/n is 8701A051.

 

Hey guys I'm new to the Forum, I'm from Costa Rica and I also was looking for a RF amp. I looked around on ebay and I was able to find this RF amp, the only thing is that they take it out from a Eclipse 06. Does anyone know if this amp will work on our outie 07 subwoofer...?
