I recently blew the pre-tensioner on the driver's side, due to a water-logging issue with my car. Since then I have taken the car to the dealership. There was a recall out for repairing the corrosion in the safety wiring harnesses. After getting the recall done, the only code that is active is for the seat belt pre-tensioner. I am very new to repairing cars, but dont want to spend $ 650 at the dealership, so I have found a pre-tensioner online for $140. I was wondering if someone could advise me about how to replace the pre-tensioner, and whether it is advisable for me to try doing it myself, since it contains an explosive charge. If anyone has a manual for the replacement, that would be great too.
