Outlander 2008 4WD lock Stock in snow ???
4wd lock on the Outtie is not a real lock but only transfers UPTO 50% more torque to the rear when COMPARED to 4wd auto. It will also help reduce understeer when entering corners at speed but don't try it unless you are trained driver
- so not just for slippery conditions.
WRT OP my 04 subaru impreza (with winter tires) got stuck in a snow field (deliberately driving on the in-laws farm field for fun) with a similar situation when driving into deeper snow: only one or two wheels on opposite axles were spinning - the other 2 or 3 not moving at all. Had to get the tractor to get us out
But snowdriving was a blast !

There is some talk that Mitsu might bring back the next generation Montero to USA, actually the current generation Pajero sold in Europe is a very nice looking 4x4. It won numerous international awards for best 4x4 of the year.
