A parts book on this is your friend.

Find a motor and before purchase, check part numbers of major components. Befieind a Mitsu parts person and then check for part number supersessions.

I remember when it came out, people wanted to use the Outlander long block in Eclipses. If my memory serves me right, I recall there were subtle differences in mounting points, as well as differences in the head and block castings. Essentially a totally updated version of the 4G64.

I know what you mean about VW's, Honda's are the same way. If only Mitsubishi took note.

ok. long story short bought another engine had a buddy put it in... well the rear mount gave him a really hard time so when he put the engine in he didnt connect it. so now my questions is whats the easiest way to get this mount connected without pulling the whole engine again? and keep in mind it is awd so lots more stuff in the way

nevermind about the rear mount, he was talkingabout something else, but the main issues im having are when you start the car there is a single pop/knock coming from the passenger side dash, and i listened to it from outside the car with the engine bay open and passenger window open and it comes from the dash itself... hvac or heater core? the other issue is when youre at a stop then you press on the gas to go, there is a knock when the car moves forward, but i couldnt hear anytihng going around turns or over speed bumps... i was thinking maybe upper strut bearing where apparently those are a known issue but im not too sure, any ideas? also i do have the tightness in the temperature dial, when you try to cross the top going from hot to cold or vice versa, it feels tight like it doesnt want to move
