During test drive dealer said he would order the map card and that it controlled the whole stereo - navigation functions. While waiting for the map card a Mitsu dealer told me the map card would not make the stereo functions work. It is back with the dealer again waiting for this mysterious map card and hopefully I will be good to go when they install it.

Yeah, you didn't buy the car with the intention the Stereo didn't work. It's not like it failed after you bought it. Unless this was an "As Is" sale they have to make it correct. Clearly they told you that they would before you bought it.
