Default Penrite CVT Fluid V in 2006 Outlander

Hi Mitsu owners,

I want to flush my CVT, the problem is that here in NZ the OEM oils are very expensive.
I see the Penrite CVT Fluid V oil is Mitsu J1/J2SP3 and Nissan NS2 compliant.

Has anyone successfully used this Penrite oil in their CVT Trannies?

Regards

A bit late of a reply but I've just used Penrite CVT V in my 2006 Outlander 2.4L CVT. Seems good, Mitsubishi have upgraded their genuine CVT fluid to a CVTF-J4 standard this will work good too (potentially better spec) as it supersedes the CVTF-J1 spec. I used two 4L packs of Penrite and did a drain and fill with all that drained out for a start (about 5L's) then drove it for a day to circulate and did another drain and fill with the left over of the last 4L (approx 3L's left in the last pack).

Bringing back an old thread here so apologies, but how did this fluid turn out? All good? Any idea how much it cost you from memory? I have just been quoted $180 for a full trans flush and refill (note I'm getting the labour for free) so seems a bit light for 7.5L of fluid based on what you guys are saying?

Yup, very happy with the Penrite CVT fluid. I believe the service manual says to do two drain and fills so basically any old fluid still remaining in the trans is diluted well with the new fluid. I have never had an issue with Penrite fluids, they do a lot of specialty fluids too and know what they're on about. There's dedicated Penrite reps in NZ too who visit all the stockists so they have good support. I used to work at Repco so usually buy my fluids at a good price from my old manager who looks after me. It all depends on what fluid you are getting for that price because there is quite a price difference between different CVT fluids with the same spec. Just ensure that you match the CVTF-J? rating on your dipstick.
