Protective liner on fuel tank, what is it?
After changing the oil on my outi, I did a thorough inspection of the under carriage. I noticed a small portion of that protective liner on the fuel tank missing, or scraped off. My guess is it probably was hit by debrie from the road or what not, but thankfully the fuel tank is not even acratched, so I guess this liner really does what is supposed to do. Anyways my only concern is that since theres metal exposed were the liner was, I'm afraid the tank will start corroding, so I want to see if anyone has any idea were I can find a touch up can of it of some sort. If anyone knows what this stuff is I would gladly apreciate it, and I encourage everyone to check it as part of your maintenance schedule.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
The first thing that comes to mind is undercoating in a spray bottle. Advance auto sells it. I used it on my 95 gsx in the wheel well. I notice a peice missing while washing it one day and sprayed some of the undercoating in there and it looks great. It has been through some rain and a few car washes and still is on there. I havent looked at my gas tank on my outie yet but once I do I will try to see what it is that is protecting it.
