Default reliability Outlander 2019

HI,

I just bought a Out ES 20.19 with the 2.4. What should I expect in regards of reliability ?

Any weak point that I should take care of or that I should focus more on ?

What about the CVT are they better nowadays ? Its my first experience with that type of transmission and I am not sure what to think about it.

Is 2.4, a reliable engine ? Known to take oil like the Subaru ?

How is Mitsu in regards of warranty claim ? Fair or good for nothing ?

Anyway we are really pleased with the car so far , good ride, cant wait for the snow

I have a 2019 ES with ~35K miles. The only issue I've had so far is that my 'auto' feature on the climate control stopped working. That is scheduled to be replaced this week under warranty. I've been very pleased with the warranty support from my local dealer.

I'm not aware of any reliability issues. Stick to the maintenance schedule and you should be good to go. Mitsu recommends transmission services at 30K mile intervals, which I found easy to do myself.

I've grown to really like the CVT in mine and understand it takes some getting used to. Oddly enough, I strongly prefer the way mine drives when in 'eco' mode.

Very reliable, but keep on top of servicing. If you tow a caravan or trailer frequently you may need to change trans oil more often (severe use)

Never seen one using oil, or leaking.

Valve clearances are done every 60000kms. Do not miss this out. The inlet rocker system is very different, and advised to get Mitsubishi to do. Or a least a Specialist in Mitsi.

If you have the EPB (electric parking brake) the pads do wear out slightly quicker that in you have lever handbrake.

you need special tooling to adjust the inlet valves. But a DTI gauge and secure holder will suffice. But like i said, not for a novice to do. You are not checking a gap, but the amount of valve lift at a certain position.
