Default Stop trying to balance wheels...

The problem is with left wheel well!!! Do you have a broken wheel well? This is a design flaw by mitsubishi. If you experience vibration on steering wheel specially on highway after 60 mph and/or pulling to the left, is because left wheel well is rubbing on your tire!! Mitsubishi claims this should not be cover under warranty due to something braking this panel on the highway. Look under left fog liht, do you hgave an opening? this is to allow rushing air to cool down small oil cooler right behind wheel well. what do you think will eventually happen when enough air pushes on a flimsy plastic panel? You guessed right, brake apart and rub on tire until it completly breaks plastic and creating a major hazard to your health. I noticed there are four Outlanders on my base (USAF) and all of them are suffering from same common problem, do not let car dealer tell you this is not Mitsubishi fault. It is like going to Wal-mart to buy a bicycle for your kid with plastic saddle, eventually it is going to brake and... imagine the rest yourself. I am going to report it to goverment agencies for record so whenever I have an accident due to Mitsubishi's negligence and lack of concern for my safety, I and my lawyer will have enough ammo to get a great settlement. Get it on paper as well from dealer, warranty does not cover such problem!! my model is 2008

It's called inner fender lining / splash shield.

Mine is buckled too and the tire rubbed a hole in it.

Dealer told me it was not covered by warranty.

I never put the 2 and 2 together about it causing steering wheel shake above 60K miles.

I can see how it is possible.

However I just had a second balancing job and the shake is Completely gone, so I am not 100% sure that the plastic rubbing on the tire is the cause of the shaking.

Now, it is an eye sore for sure, but how is it a hazard to my health? (other than making me angry at Mitsubishi for badly designing this flimsy part and not covering it)

P.S. there are a couple of threads on this forum about this issue.
