Default Aspiring Eclipse owner with questions...?

I have some questions about an Eclipse for sale and I figured talking to some Eclipse owners would help me some.

The Car: 1998 Eclipse GS 5 Speed

This car was in an accident in 2001. The radiator, condenser, and bumber cover were damaged and replaced. The accident deployed the airbag and the SRS light is still on. The title was reissued as a salvage title, then rebuilt, and now has a clear title. It has had 15000 (mostly highway) miles put on it since the accident 6 years ago. It has 85000 miles on it, for the most part is stock besides a "sport suspension" and it looks like an aftermarket intake. The guy originally wanted 5700 for it but after I found out all this stuff I figure the car is not worth near that amount. I'm just wondering what anyone here thinks.

Good buy, bad buy, indesicions? Please let me know either by email or on this board. I'm planning on looking at the car tommorow and maybe making the purchase if the price is right.

Thats really high miles no matter highway or not.. The GS doesnt hold its resale very well at all.. I personally wouldnt give him over 3,000 since it was in an accident and higher miles.. 2,500 seems more realistic.. I have no idea where he comes up with the 5,700 for that car...

Its obvious, Advocate... that hes insane. Even 2500 would be a stretch for a wrecked 420a

Even though the vehicle is a rebuilt, title cleared, DMV certified, looks great under the hood and inside and out, average miled vehicle, I still would be getting screwed at 3000 when the bluebook on the car, even in poor condition, is 4800?

The accident was 6 years ago and has been rebuilt and recertified. Maybe I just really have my hopes up for this car, but I will however be cautious and will test and inspect the crap out of it before I make a decision.

Thank you all for your input so far. Keep the comments rolling!

Well... For $3K and change... its not that bad... just dont expect this car to be anything more than a daily driver.. it (with the 420a) simply doesnt have the power to be a fast car.
