sooo....might be getting new eclipse...opinions anyone? (pics)
i wouldnt say that the 420a is comppletely useless, so long as the internals are built...ive put together a 420a stroked witha gt35r, and when its finished, it should be pretty wicked, but nothing in the engine engine is original.
That looks to me to be an Ebay turbo kit... Then again, I only say this due to the fact thatthe housing is"unmarked"... also... that intake manifold looks odd to me....
I think TheEngineer has some very good points. If I were you, before i even THOUGH about purchasing this car get a full detailed list of mods he has on the car other than the obvious, turbo kit. there are a few MUSTS and if he spent the money to put this thing together correctly than he should have kept his receipts. if he didn't or gives you some kind of story of why he didn't... i would competely blow the deal off.you are looking for:
injectors
fuel pump
fpr
tuning device
tuning location and dyno sheet
what internals? (pistons, rings, rods)
machine shop location of where everything was assembled and balanced
boost gauge
wideband
clutch
these are things the car must have to be in proper working condition. without even one of these things i'd walk away from the deal.
also get names, brands, and model numbers of all parts if they are not widely known.

only thing is, it's not a private seller, it's a dealer. so they wouldn't have all that info unless whoever traded it in gave it to them right?
i don't know, i just really do like it. i don't want problems, but from what i've seen so far from it, it's in good condition, no funny noises like mine makes, or anything.
well, too bad none of you live in washington, you could help me out then, grrrr.

You shold always be weary of buying someone elses project, even if its from a dealer.
Implied Warranties should always be present, but thats on oem equipment.
If something turbo related goes wrong and the engine blows, your screwed.
The 420A is not meant to be turbo'd, its more a motor with an economical sense.
IMO, stay away from that car.
The 420A, when running right, is a good motor.
Just spend a few bucks on yours and get it running fine and you wont be disappointed.

hah, too bad it's going to cost more than just a few dollars to fix all the crap that's going wrong with my car.
i don't know, i'm still looking around though. i can afford car payments and insurance and all that good stuff, but i can't afford to keep fixing my car. especially since i just bought it. bleh....i'm looking into some other cars though...i was just hoping this car would possibly be good enough, and atleast not have any problems with anything. i guess i could go through the car thoroughly before i make any decision....i don't know though....[&:]

If its a non turbo car, and it has a turbo, it was ridden hard at some point, and if it has a new engine, it prolly means the other one was blown, so you should be looking more at the car itself than the engine (i know the 420a and it really is a pain sometimes so thats a -1 point) you should be looking at details like wear on the brake pad and shifting thingy, and check out if the car hasnt been on a crash, a LOT of details... you should better get one tat doesnt look like it was ridden hard.... i hope you understand what im trying to say hahaha
