Cost effective, I agree. I don't suggest swapping motors in the Eclipse/Talon because the 4g63 was an option in those cars. IMO, get one of those instead of swapping one, UNLESS...the body is in pristine condition with body upgrades that the owner likes.

Well, considering that she's already paying for a car now, to trade it in, she'll be upside down on it upon trade in since she's only had it for a short period of time.
POWER is something the "boys" want. I have friends who have EVOs and their wive's like them, but would rather have something "reliable", look good, and with enough power to satisfy that power burst when needed. Where you and I would most likely redline the tach at every light....I really do that too, lol. I don't know why, I just do.
A boosted 420 will never contend with a 4g63, but that's not what it's built for...
Anyway, my point is, turbo'ing 420 is cost effective enough to justify getting the kit. The difference between the two motors at that point is still the motor. They are both FWD, both turbo'd, and both will be fun enough for a lot of people. The 420 is good until about 300 maybe 350chp. Where the 4g63 is capable of 400-450...that's on the cautious side. I wouldn't try 500chp unless it was a 1G motor.
I said what I said because, it's another option. There are guys with Avenger/Sebrings with a turbo added onto their 420s and have not had issues with them...same motor, same thought. They like their cars even more because it's now even more fun to drive. Are they a threat to the 4g63? No, not but a tiny handful.

Jstylez, are you looking for a V8 eating 4 cylinder car or are you looking for a "fun" car? You obviously want a 2G, so that's not a consideration.

but umm, i'm just looking for something fun right now, but a good daily driver that i actually like and would like to keep for a while. and this car is in my price range....so yeah.

Its just tough to get your money back out of a turboed 420a... Unless you planned on keeping it for kids later on or something it just wouldnt be worth it...

 

You will never get a monetary value back from it, no, but that's the same reason why folks strip their GS-T/GSXes and return it to stock before they sell it anyway, right?

 

dude what car do you get your money back for. Almost any car is gonna be a loss in the end, unless its some rare car that actually increases in value. But almost all cars decrease all the time

 

well i am planning on getting a car that i'm going to keep for a while. that's why i've been looking for something sporty and fun that i actually like, instead of some crappy *** car. so it'd definitely be a car for me for a while

 

get an evo again . Its a fun car, fast car, and even a family car when the time comes

Or get a 3g eclipse GT. Those are pretty quick from factory, and reliable. Unless you like the 2g look better

 

i WOULD get an evo again, just money situations right now. can't afford it. and two, i do NOT like the look of the 3g eclipse...bleh. not very good looking to me at all. i only like the 2g body style.

 

You dont get your money back on most cars... But the GS and RS are 2 of the WORST!.. My 99 GS that I had was a fun and reliable car... Ran awesome and had no dings or dents.. No body would give me anything for that... I was pissed.. I should of just kept it for a DD... But supras keep there resale.. And I should be able to get what I have in my GST being low milage still + mods..
