You are one lucky kid you know that, for some reason I though you had a 4g64 not a 420a. Bottom line here is a tranny cooler kit for the 420a

c'mon man.. My sig says "eclipse RS" ... hehe.. anywho! How exactly do these things work?? ...if you know... I have no clue.. I'm having a hard time understanding how I would install it because I don't know how they WORK

Yes and no...your tranny has fluid (tranny fluid) lines that run from the tranny through the radiator core and back to the tranny. This kind of helps keep the fluid at a somewhat constant temp, also helps the fluid warm up quicker in the winter. No coolant enters these lines. When you add an external cooler, the tranny fluid is cooled by the air flowing through the cooler.
