Default 1g head to 4g64 block?

Is it better to use the 1g head or the 2g head? I know that it is a little more work to use the 1g but is there a difference in performance.

Sorry. I dident quite say what I wanted to. I want to swap the head off a 4g63 (2.0) engine and put it on the block of the 4g64 (2.4) that is in my 97 Spyder. The 4g64 is a sohc but the 4g63 is a dohc. The head in the 1st generation 4g63 has slightly different bolt patterns and cosmetic differences than the 2nd generation 4g63. But I don't know if that is the only difference.

Ok I understand what you want to do here. The 1G head has a differaunt intake manifold as well apposed to the 2G. Now I had a 2000 GS 4G64 so I know about the I have pulled the head off but in not sure of is the earlier year 4G64...I need to know on your stock head what side is the Throttle body and intake faceing in my old GS the throttle body\intake was on the right side of the engine bay if yours is the same than the 1g/2g head will not fit because they face the opposite way. the EVOs 4g63 faces to the right side so that may fit but not sure if it has been done

I knew that I would have to swap the airbox and intake manifold. Right now they are on the left side but after the swap they will be on the right. I have never looked into the Evo head thou. I know that I can use the Evo III turbo. But that means alot of engine work just to make it handle it. It would be nice just to get ahold of an Evo drive train and make it work.

If your intake now is on the left it should be after as well the 1G and 2G have the intake/throttle on the left side the EVO has it on the right side.. keep in mind I have an EVO now and had a 4G64 powered 3g before lol

As far as the drive train it wont work unless you have boat loads of money there is no chance at it.

the EVO III turbo can bolt right up to that motor and the EVO VIII can with minor mods. to the manifold I was the first person to bolt up a EVO twin scroll 16G to a 4G64 I was told it was impossible but I did find a way now there are a few others who have tried it useing my method that I came up with back in 2003 a little after the EVO VIII was released

If your motor uses the same pistons\Rods as the 4G64 in the 3G eclipses than it can hold 9 PSI all day without any trouble its been done a ton of times over at club3G.com.
