Default Gassy smell

Well lately my ohh so not incredible eclipse is hating on me once again. This time there a really strong gas smell in the car if you let it sit for a while. I paid no attention cuz when i bought the car it did this too and it went away. But I got curious this time and went sniffing. I believe my problem lies underneath the rear passenger seat behind the front passenger. There a metal cover with a ruber top on it. Well i found it can't close. Why it can't close is because the item underneath it which i do not know (something related to gas), has a plastic cover that is protruding out a bit. Also i notice after lookin underneath the metal cover, there was gas there. So i was like okay wipe it up and so i did. After wiping it i notice gas was seeping back upto the top THROUGH METAL..[:-]. I might be seeing things but yah i wipped it a second time. Anybody had this issue or know wut exactly is under that seat. Hollah at cha noob thanks.

Ohh.. make sense.. if gas is coming from it. Just thought it would be located around the trunk area. Well i dont see leaks at all. the hoses and everything are all connected tight. I just see gas some how seeping and ending up on top. Its not doing it now but the smell is still there and strong. Got me kinda woosy driving even with the window all down.

You may have a crack someplace. The only way to find it would be to pull out the carpet and take a look

when i took my stock pump off to put my walboro on that didn't work... after putting my stock one back on and cranking it up mine did the same thing... you have to tighten the bolt coming off of the fuel line from the fuel pump at the same time as turning the oppostie way on the other bolt connected to it... sorry if that doesn't make much sense in words

well i guess my problem is fixed and in the process i found that the fuel pump i have is a walboro GSS something couldn't see the rest of the number. The previous owner was a lazy person and dind't screw on the white cap properly nor did he care to have the plastic rubber gasket sit properly. So fixed all that and closed it all up nicely and volla no more smell. To bad i lost like a quarter of my tank of gas cuz i just unhooked the hoses like a noob and it just gushed out..
