My 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder will not go past 15mpg HELP!
I meant to say 15mph.
I just recently bought a 1997 Mitsubishi 2.0L turbo charged 4-speed automatic Spyder.
Unfortunately, as i hit anywhere from 13-17 mph, the car starts to die out, and black smoke comes out of the exhaust pipe.
If you could please help, it would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you.

Does the car completely die out at that speed?
How does it idle?
Hows your gas mileage, do you notice gas just disapearing anytime you drive it?
Black smoke = burning to much fuel. Usually has something to do with the Air to fuel ratio, so for instance, say you have a bad intake gasket leak, now you have air entering the engine that is passing the actually throttle body and not being recognised. So when the engine gets this burst of air, it causes the fuel pump to dump more fuel into the engine. So basically when that happens, your flooding the engine with fuel, causing it to shut down/run like crap. I'd start off by checking your whole intake system for leaks, maybe any wires unplugged, anything that doesn't look right.
