Yeah, they actually connect into your obd system(obd2 equipped cars only, 1996 and newer) and take check to see if any emmisions devices are malfunctioning or not. Basically, nowadays, the MIL only comes on for emissions related equipment failure. There are quite a bit of other dummy lights in the dash now because of this.

Ahhh, alright, so now what I said doesn't work at all, lol. But that is def something I'm happy to not know about since all they do here in NH is look to see if you have a cat on there. When I bought my mustang it had them hallowed out but they were still there visually so I could pass wherever. Then I got an off road X-pipe for it and passed at a garage I used to work at, he goes, "if anyone asks you put that on tomorrow."

Here in Maryland you can get a 2 year waiver if your car will not go over the rollers because of ride hieght.

Coilovers are your friend, lol.

Def. the culprit. The o2 will send false readings like nobody business. Replace it and then reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery for 5-10 mins. Start it up and drive it around. Should do the trick.

yeah, but if the sensor is actually bad, the light doesnt take too long to come on. My battery's been disconnected several times in the past couple weeks (parked) and the light comes on pretty quick. Anyone know how much a diagnosis test costs? I've had enough of this light

My suggestion is take some of your christmas money and go to

www.pocketlogger.com

Buy the software and cable, then go to ebay and find the cheapest Palm m105 to run it on. This tool will not only tell you what the light code is coming up, but will also help you tune your car by showing you what is going on temp/time/volt wise with the engine. It does not offer a tune feature, just a basic diagnostic in REAL TIME.
