Default spyder is very thirsty

I purchased a 97 spyder gst last weekend. It has given the dreaded P0170 code. Made sure there is premium fuel in the tank. Still turns the check engine light on in about 25 miles. Also the fuel economy is 17 mpg on the highway. I think thats a little low, isn't it?

P0170 Fuel Trim Malfunction (Bank 1)

Not quite sure what this means.

Dissconnect the battery and put the key in the ignition to drain any excess power. Then wait a couple mins and reconnect it. That should reset the ECU. See if that fixes the problem

It means that its likely running in a lean condition. Id look for a leak post-maf.

No, of course not... I had just gotten that code. It was a leak near the TB.
Lol, think Sebba.

go to home depot and make a boost leak tester... 2 pieces of 2.5" pvc pipe, 1 90degree elbow, cap w/ air hose connector, psi gauge and a coupler to tie it onto ur turbo. then hook up a compressor, pressurize the lines and listen for the pssssssssssss. that easy
