Its not lol... its right by the drivers side front wheel... just above it i think. Yea im dead serious about the hammer. If it wont turn over its because its stuck... hitting it will solve that lol.... till the next time you need tos tart it obviously lol.... Just give it a good whack on the case and that should free it up.

Replacing a starter on that year turbo eclipse is a pain. Your hands get pinched a lot when you are removing and installing the starter. It also takes a great amount of your afternoon. I would definitely sugggest some universal sockets.

How long does it usually take for the starter to be installed?

Ok I have replace a starter on a 96 RS and it is in the front under the header. for that it takes maybe a half hour. I also replaced the starter on my 99 GST. the location of the starter makes it hadr to hit w/ a hammer bc its under the intake manifold and you need to be under the car to get to it. If you get stuck and you have a manual you can pop the clutch and it will start. just get someone to push the car up to like 10 mPH then pop the cluch and turn the key and give a lil gas. However the install for a 4g63 engine takes around 1.5 hours. just get a ramp and some sockets. remove the battery and the plate the battery sits on then go under the car un bolt the 2 bolts and one nut and it take some time to get it out of the car once it's unbolted.
