timing advancement
ok so i gave up on fixing my eclipse a few months ago but now its time to fix it. but my problem is that i cant fix the timing. the only way it seems to get fixed is if i advance the crank a notch or 2 i forget. the only think is that it idles high, but i know i can ajust the biss screw.
is it ok if i have to advance this or is the problem somewhere else?
130,000mi on it so yea

you shoudnt even be able to advance the timing any more than 1 notch (which is normally equal to about 14 degrees) without having problems with the valves hitting. So if your able to adjust the timing that much then something isnt lined up correctly. I suggest you first make sure that everything is aligned right
well it definetly shouldnt run correctly that way. So if it is then there is something else wrong and all your doing is masking the problem. I would try and locate the source of the problem rather than try to mask it. Something else must not be installed correctly
