Uh got the car about 2 weeks ago and the oil was almost a quart low and I just added to it. Ill go ahead and do a full change when I get a chance. That should help?

I was just worried because it started last night and didnt really sound that healthy.

I found a bracket that Im pretty sure goeas along with ac compressor belt (theres no belt attached) that was loose and rattling around. I removed it thinking that was the source of the noise but nope still there.

If its a ticking comming from under the valve cover then its the lifters. They are known to do it and isnt really a problem unless you cant stand the sound. Doing an oil change will typically reduce the sound. Changing to the revised lifters will get rid of it. But its not totally necessary

So I read up on the lifter tick and remember how my other eclipse would have this soft tick and now realize that that was what it was. On this car, its more of a loud slapping on the inside of the valve cover at said rpms. The tick I remember was a constant tick tick tick at all rpms and understandably getting louder as rpm increased. Would it be a good idea to take the valve cover off and have a look to make sure everything looks ok? You guys would know before I would is there a part that could come loose or may have broken that would be hitting the inside of the valve cover?

Im just concerned because this noise just started happening and when it starts is sounds rather violent. I want to be very careful with this car. Dont want to take any chances ya know. Took me 3 eclipses before I could find a 5 speed turbo close to home at a decent price I want her to last haha.

again sry for the novel

Well if your gonna remove the valve cover youll need to replace the gaskets. But its probably worth taking a look at. But you said it gets faster as the rpms increase right? which is what lifter tick would do

Well I was refering to my other eclipse (96 Spyder gst) when I was talking about it getting faster at higher rpms.

The tick/slapping/smacking noise in the car Ive been refering to (95 gst) only does it at certain rpms --1900-2000rpms and then at a couple random spots at higher rpms. The 'tick' not being constant throughout the rpms is making me think it could possibly be something else that might be damaging if not checked out.

Try reving the car to the rpm the noise happens and pull the connector to the fuel injector one at a time and see if the noise changes.

Also when you change the oil check for metal in the oil and filter.

Went to pull the connectors like you suggested and had a hard time trying to hold the throttle and pull em at the same time. Noticed something that made me die a little or possibly alot depending on what it is. Was shooting water and a good bit of white smoke out the exhaust!!!! Please tell me I dont have a cracked head...
