Default Timing Belt and Other Parts Replaced

A friend and I replaced my timing belt and water pump yesterday. In addition, we also replaced my valve cover gasket that was leaking. Now though, when I run the car, the brake light and battery light are on simultaneously... they don't flash, they're constant and only at higher RPM. The headlights dim as well.

I think this can be linked to an alternator problem but the alternator was perfectly fine before this and my battery is six months old, eighty-four month battery.

Considering my alternator and battery were not issues prior to this work, what could this be? I'm thinking there's something that's just not getting a good connection in there.

One other thing that has been an issue since I first got the car. Mine has always idled high - a lot of vibration in the car while it's in drive but stopped or in park. But when I start having the heat/air running high (especially the air), the car stutters when stopped or in park and often cannot hold and turns off. Is this common with the Eclipse or is there something I should look at here as well? Everyone always comments about the vibration and how it makes them nauseous. I guess I've gotten used to it.

Edit: It's a 2000 V6

Did you put the belt back on the alternator?

Would the car even start if I didn't put the timing belt back on the alternator? And the lights coming on is very random. They don't stay on and seem to come on immediately when I come to a full stop. Then they fade out and disappear once I start going again. But like I said, if this isn't having any impact on the car running, can it be anything serious?

Oops, didn't mean to say back on the timing belt there, obviously. Anyway, the 120 alternator fuse was blown. When it went all the way, the tach cut off and the car was jerking violently as if it was being told to downshift from the RPM being read at zero. Anyone ever have anything like that happen to them?
