Angry Emissions Issue

Hey All!

So, I was lazy and had the Valvoline Quick Oil and Lube place change my air filter when getting an oil change. I have an '08 Eclipse and as you all know the housing for the air filter is tight to say the least (I'm a girl with small hands and can barely get the old and new filter in and out).

However, I was horrified when the Valvoline guys started taking apart things that I never touched before when replacing the filter. It looked like they disconnected the intake pipe from the filter box. Next thing I know when they were done replacing the air filter the car wouldn't start and the check engine light came on. They adjusted something and the car started. They manually turned off the check engine light.

A month later my check engine light comes on again. I took it to Pep Boys and the code read that my emissions were the problem.

Valvoline's disassembly and reassembly of the air filter box and the intake pipe could have caused this, correct? I'm thinking a hose or something that has to do with emissions was jostled and it just now came loose.

Thoughts?

They didn't give me the actual code. I wanted a third party to diagnose the problem before I went back to Valvoline.
