Fans not coming on unless heater or AC is on - 2003 Galant GTZ
Well, I'm getting desparate before I have to take this car to someone that knows what they are doing!
Seems like cooling problems have cascaded!
Right now, the fans will not coming on unless the heater or AC unit is turned on. Of course, this is causing the car to overheat.
History:
Driving home one day recently, the car ran hot. I replaced the thermostat, and it was fine for two days! Then the temp gauge starting showing hot again.
I then replaced the Coolant Temp Sensor (no change...wasted $35 on the sensor)
I noticed that the Temp gauge would go all the way to the top when just turning the car to ACC on the ignition switch (hasn't been cranked in two days)
Replaced the sending unit, which fixed that!
I thought I was in the clear, but low and behold, the car started gradually overheating. I then discovered that the fans weren't kicking on by themselves, unless I cut the heater or AC on. No overheating issues with the fans running.
Anyone have any clues of what to do at this point. Talking to a guy at the quick oil change place, he seems to think it would be the PCM!
I'm really hoping someone can help out, as I was about to sell the car! My wife was given a car from her parents when they bought a new one, so I was going to sell this one. Unfortunately, I decided to drive it for a couple of weeks to save on some gas (I have a Titan), and then the first issue reared its head!
