i have a 1990 galant gsx, i can start it up, and even rev it up a little, but it very quickly dies. i changed the fuel filter, the fuel pressure regulator and the fuel pump. and it is still doing it... does anyone have any new ideas i can try? thanks!

it idles for about two seconds, it will rev up if i push the gas, but then it just dies as if i turned the key off or something. it did sit for about a year and a half.

From your symptoms you are describing..2 things come to mind:

1. A bad MAF sensor. Get a known working one and swap it out with the one in your car currently and see if that fixes your problem.

2. Capacitors in the Ecu are leaking. The way to check is to remove the Ecu and open up the case and you will see if the capacitors are leaking. If they are and depending on the damage, the Ecu can be repaired or you will need a new Ecu completely.
