Exclamation 2001 Montero Sport Differential Swap

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and have an interesting problem and any advice received would be appreciated. I have a 2001 Montero Sport 3.0 2wd. It has a 4.90 open differential which I would like to swap for a limited slip/locker as I do a decent amount of off-roading, but not enough to justify buying a 4x4. I found a 1998 montero sport 3.0 4wd in a junkyard and it has a 4.27 limited slip with a factory air locker. I can buy the entire wheel-to-wheel rear end for $160. My question is, would it be possible for me to swap my gears into the new housing? Essentially keep my 4.90 ratio (which I like considering I tow a 4,500 lb boat from time to time) and keep the posi/ locker? Or do I need to just deal with the 4.27? I don't believe it would be too detrimental to my towing ability, but I just wanted to make sure I covered all the bases before I went ahead with the swap.
