Default 2001 Montero Sport LS Battery won't stay charged.

My alternator and battery both test good. My car starts and the alternator charges it to 14.2-14.4. However, soon after I start driving, the alternator stops charging and the battery drops quickly until the car stalls. I replaced the 100 amp fuse and checked the relays. All fuses and relays are working. My mechanic buddy told me about fusible links that might be in the positive battery cable or near the fuse box. He states that it sounds like that could be the problem. He is in a different town as me and can't look at my car. Does anyone have experience with these fusible links or has anyone experienced these charging problems with a Montero Sport?? I am stuck here and any help would be greatly appreciated.
